The 2017 Jeep Compass made its debut at the November AutoMobility LA Auto Show, and has recently hit showrooms. It arrives as Jeep’s new compact SUV, and because it is redefining the segment, we here at Jeep Chrysler Dodge Ram FIAT of Ontario feel a spotlight should be shown on its impressive and innovative features. The all-new Compass is still full of serious hardware to take you through all kinds of challenging terrain. Jeep’s goal in this redesign was to redefine what it means to be an urban explorer, and the 2017 Jeep Compass gives a fresh look at that, and invites people to the outdoors.
It all starts with the 4×4 systems. Jeep Active Drive sends power to all four wheels and can even direct up to 100% of available torque to a single wheel. This means added confidence that you’ll need to get where you’re going, whether you’re blazing a new trail or just running to the store. For the more serious off-roader, the Jeep Active Drive Low system offers a 20:1 crawl ratio to get over seriously tough terrain. Both of these systems come with Jeep Selec-Terrain system. Each mode customizes the 4×4 system to power through snow, sand, mud, or rocky conditions. Jeep hasn’t forgotten that their vehicles are also driven on paved roads. The fully independent suspension combine with the rigid chassis to ensure on road driving is just as sure footed.
Powering the 2017 Jeep Compass for sale in Ontario, CA is the trusty 2.4-liter Tigershark four-cylinder engine. The refined motor utilizes technology like MultiAir2 variable valve-actuation to produce 180 horsepower and 175 pound-foot of torque. The 4×2 model can be equipped with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed Aisin automatic transmission. The 4×4 models can utilize either the six-speed manual or the class exclusive nine-speed automatic transmission.
On the outside Jeep has given the 2017 Compass a complete restyle. Gone is the innocent look of the previous model. The new Compass has a look that shows you that it means business. The well-known seven-slot grille is featured up front. The rear fenders rise up to meet a roof that is painted gloss black. This gives the new Compass a tough and premium look. LED taillights create a unique rear signature. It’s all new, but instantly recognizable as a Jeep.
