A plug-in hybrid electric powertrain powers the Wrangler 4xe. The gasoline engine is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder mated with a 17-kWh lithium-ion battery pack and an electric motor to provide motivation. The combination provides a stout 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. The electric battery and motors enable the Wrangler 4xe to travel under electric power only for up to 21 miles. Jeep offers different driving modes, so you can emphasize the electric motor or the engine, depending on what kind of driving you’re doing. And, of course, the 4xe comes with Jeep’s legendary 4×4 systems to help you climb over just about any obstacle you might encounter.
